Debra Rich spotted wooden crabs with their claws, a flying fish, and a starfish at a thrift store, and they sent her straight back to the Gulf, which she lives close to. She wanted something minimal that told the story of life under the sea.
The background is paper printed with water ripples. A crab sits in the middle with its claws open, two starfish float above it, and a polka-dot flying fish swims along the bottom. A murex shell sits in the lower left corner and a turban shell in the lower right, which makes this an upcycled assemblage. When she finished, it made her smile.
