Debra Rich had a collection of chains and costume jewelry and wondered what to do with it. She decided to make a tree.
The background is painted. The trunk is made from beads and chains of beads, and the leaves and flowers are mosaic tiles. Fused-glass birds sit in the branches.
The sun is a pin, and so is the cat, who reaches for a butterfly at the base of the tree. The dog is a found porcelain knick-knack. Butterflies, bees, and a hummingbird fill out the scene.
